I'm praying for Molly! I hope the meds get rid of whatever it is. This is scary as you well know. I too am very curious about what parasite her mother had.

I had always thought that parasites lived in the gut ONLY. I didn't know they could get into the brain..unless it got in via the ears. ??

There are many different types of parasites and while the most commonly contracted ones remain in the gut there are some that move to other areas of the host animal

Leyna, I'm glad to hear that Molly is feeling somewhat better. Definitely give her extra yogurt to help with the good-gut-bacteria that the meds will kill off along with the bad ones. Still praying for both of you

Well, Molly pulled her other joey, but now seems to be doing much better. No circling or confusing this morning... Also, as odd as this might sound, now that she's no longer doing it, I've noticed that she HAD a slight head tilt. She took her meds like a pro this morning and got a good chin scratching for it

Maybe Miss Molly just wasn't ment to breed.

Ah, I'm sorry about the loss of both joeys Hopefully Molly will continue to make marked improvements each day.

I'm staying hopeful that Molly continues to recover.

~sigh~ Well, I talked to my vet today. Apparently, Holly had ringworms and some type of unidentified parasite. The vet that did her necropsy said I had nothing to worry about when it comes to my other gliders, after Holly's necropsy. Quite simply put, he was wrong, very wrong. Anyways, my vet wants me to get fecal samples from all of my gliders, so she can send them out to a lab. Most of my gliders have had no exposure to Molly, so they should be alright, but if any of them show up with the ringworms, I'll have to worm them all.

On a positive note, Molly is continuing to improve. While she's no where near normal self, because she's still having problems seeing, I am no longer worried that I'm going to loose her.

Tomorrow morning is going to be fun, lol. I get to collect fecal samples from all my gliders, drop them off at the vets, then got to work... For 16 HOURS! I'm going to need lots and lots of caffeine!

I'm so glad to hear that your girl is improving and that you don't have to worry about what happened to Molly's mom happening to the rest of your gliders. Many hugs to you for all the work ahead. I hope everything comes back fine and Molly makes a full recovery.

UPDATE!!!!! I got the fecal results back today (my vet sent them out to a lab and they were tested for everything) and guess what!?!?! EVERYBODY IS OKAY! There were no signs of bacterial or parasitic infections. My vet wants to do a blood test on Molly and Ash (her dad) in 2 weeks to see if we can figure out what's going on with Molly.

Oh Leyna that's great news!! I know how stressful that wait must have been! Hopefully things just keep getting better and better!!

That is FANTASTIC NEWS!!! Hopefully they can figure out what happened with Molly. How is she doing btw?

Molly is still having problems with her eyes, but other than that, she doesn't seem to be having any problems. She's eating well, drinking well, etc.
