It sounds like you've done your absolute best in caring for this little guy. I think the vet, along with the suggestions of the posters, will help in the recovery of Napoleon.

My thoughts are with you and Napoleon.

Oh Shanna, you poor girl. I really hope and pray that Napoleon is going to heal up just fine. You must be in agony over this. I sincerely applaud you for taking such good care of your little guy. You also need to take care of yourself, though.
Please know that Maggie and I will keep you in our thoughts.

I first want to say that I appreciate everyone's help and suggestions to me and Napoleon so far. It's been a great, great pleasure to know so many of you guys out there that care -- you are the best!

As for Napoleon, he is now home. I'm sorry that I never got a chance to take a picture of that neck brace that my mother and I had made -- but alas, I don't think it's something that would be beneficial to a S. M. just because the brace does turn flexible after a while.

So, at 2:30 PM Dr. Gray calls me and updates me on Napoleon's condition. The surgery session was a success! They cleaned him up and cleared away dead tissue as well as checked his bladder -- which was doing good! He did tell me, however, that Napoleon appeared to be somewhat dehydrated, which shocked me. He had drank some of his glider nectar and some of his water on his own and part by me giving it to him in drops by syringe. That was a little discouraging, but they gave him injections or something to help rehydrate him.

He said that Napoleon was a total angel and heartthrob in the clinic -- all the nurses were all googly over him while he was there.

He also has Napoleon wrapped around his torso in a "vest" like wrapping to keep him from bending to his genitalia. So, I am to continue with meds and Neosporin and such. Monday I call Dr. Gray to update him on Napoleon's progress or lack there of... and yeah. On a sad note, Dr. Gray informed me that Napoleon will not be able to reproduce ever. Which, doesn't bother me, I'm OK with that.

Now we're on a long read of recovery ahead of us. I just haven't taken pictures, but you know, I never once thought about it during this whole time. I was so focused on him that I cut off everything else for the last few days just to watch over him.

I did get some sleep and food in me today. Before work I had a two hour nap and then when I got home, I made myself and Napoleon dinner -- well, his was already made and in the freezer, but I had to get it out for him and stuff..

So, here I am. I feel a whole lot better now. I'm sure I'm not out of the clear yet, but you know... I'm just pleased that he turned out today from his surgery procedure and that his bladder, and Him, are OK for now.

I love my little booger!

Hang in there....it does get better. We are all here if you need anything...that is...except for sleep. Sleep seems to be something that some of us are short on.

Kudos to you for all your perseverance and dedication to wee Nappy! I sincerely hope he mends quickly and doesn't have any more problems - as I'm sure you hope and pray also. More info on that vest may certainly benefit others too. Hugs and kisses to Nappy!

Hello all.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been so busy with work during the day, and Napoleon at night that I just haven't had the time to sit and type till now.

Haven't had the chance to take pictures of Nappy with a decent camera.

He loves his BML -- eats it up REALLY well. His meds mix in with it as well. I've noticed that Nappy isn't as "hyper" and "vocal" as he used to be before this incident. He's still very active, but just not that dominant male active. Does that make sense or am I like being silly here?

Giving him lots of love and play as much as I can. He mostly just chills on my shoulder and pulls at my hair with his hands. That's about it for now, I think. I'm ogg to wash some of Napoleon's dishes and such.

I think major illnesses do change them. For one, I think they learn to trust us more (or run from us because they hate their meds!). It may take some "fight" out of them, too. I don't know if that's everyone's experienced this, but I know I have.

Thanks guys for all your support and kindness. We're still not out of the woods yet, but at least Napoleon is ALIVE, right? Right! *sigh of relief*

He was very playful this morning. That made me happy. He was his happy, bouncy self. I was glad to see him this way. He's still on his anti-infection meds, which he is still taking extremely well with his BML diet.

I'm anxiosly awaiting a Wodent Wheel that I ordered from an awesome set of people.

Also awaiting some nummy, crunchy bugs that I ordered for Nappy. Hehehe.. I am more excited about his stuff than he will be, I'm sure! That's what makes getting stuff so much fun!

Anyway, I've gotta split for now. Hope you are all doing well.

Well, when I thought everything was going good, I suppose I was wrong.

Napoleon appeared to be on the healing streak. He was healing up nicely, the vet was certain he was going to be OK -- all his tests were clean....

And, tonight... as I went to play with him... I opened up his pouch to find Napoleon in an eternal sleep. His little body is so cold. He looks so peaceful.

I don't know what to say really. Thanks for caring about a little booger like Napoleon. I'm really going to miss him.

I'll always love my little Angel...
